Verstappen lays a marker with strong time to top FP1 in Belgium
Max Verstappen has topped the first free practice session for the Belgian Grand Prix by half a second. The Dutchman will take a hefty grid penalty this weekend but laid a strong marker on the soft tyre around Spa-Francorchamps. The winner of the last Grand Prix finished second fastest, with Alex Albon surprisingly rounding out the top three.
