Ferrari has reportedly made step of firing up its 2026 Formula 1power unit for the first time ahead of the rules reset. Whilstteams are banned from working on car development until 2025 for themassive package of changes, power unit suppliers are hard at worktrying to design new engines for thr drastic overhaul. Come 2026,the MGU-H will disappear with a greater emphasis being placed onelectrical power and increased biofuels as F1 aims to become netzero by 2030, with the Scuderia firing up the V6 InternalCombustion Engine, as claimed by Motorsport Italy. Ferrari is oneof a number of potential power unit suppliers building engines forthe 2026 rules, including Mercedes High Performance Powertrains,Red Bull Powertrains, Audi, Honda Racing Company and Renault whileFord will supply technical knowledge to RBPT. General Motors hasalso indicated it will build its own power unit for 2028, as partof a deal that could see Andretti join the grid, if it can agreecommercial terms with F1. As for 2024, Ferrari's latest F1challenger will be unveiled on February 13th, eight days before thestart of pre-season testing in Bahrain.
