Could Lando Norris be a potential prospect for a Red Bull seat inthe future? The British driver has previously been suggested by aformer member of their driver stable. Norris has been in stunningform for McLaren throughout the 2023 season, having taken eightpodiums at the wheel of his MCL60. He scored more points than anyother driver apart from Max Verstappen in the latter part of theyear. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko has already indicated on behalfof Red Bull that, in his view, Norris is the best young driver atthe moment and that his youthful playfulness would also suit theteam well. Is Norris therefore the logical favorite for a seat from2026? He might be, but former F1 driver Johnny Herbert stronglyadvises against such a move. “I think if we do it just from adriver’s perspective, you’re always going to try and work outwhat’s going to benefit you,” Herbert told Express Sport. “Now isthe risk of him going to Red Bull worth it in the situation that hefinds himself?" Herbert: McLaren loves him Herbert continued, believing that it would not be "worth the risk" for Norris to makea switch to partner Verstappen given his current form at McLaren.“McLaren [are] doing really, really well… McLaren love having himin the team. He delivers when the car is working properly… Is itworth the risk? Personally no, I don’t think it is worth the risk.“He’s still young, he’s still going to get better, he’s still goingto improve and at the moment, McLaren are on a very good trajectoryto, you know, get themselves maybe in a stronger position for nextyear. “We’re going to have to wait and see obviously, but I don’tsee why he’d want to make his life that little bit more difficultwhen he actually is in a very good position that he’s got at themoment.”
